Local Happenings: To Jail or Not to Jail?

The Social Justice Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Poughkeepsie will hold a forum on Wednesday, October 9, at 7 p.m. entitled “To Jail or Not to Jail?”

Three distinguished panelists will describe and explore the various options being considered for Dutchess County regarding its corrections system.  The forum will be held at the UU Fellowship, 67 South Randolph Avenue, Poughkeepsie. The panelists are Marc Molinaro, Dutchess County Executive; Mary Ellen Still, Director of Probation for Dutchess County and lead author of a study by the Dutchess County Criminal Justice Council; and Diane Jablonski of the Dutchess County Democratic Women’s Caucus, which has also published a report on the corrections system in Dutchess County.

John Penney, community conversation/editorial page editor at the Poughkeepsie Journal, will moderate. After introductory comments from each of the panelists, members of the audience will be invited to ask questions.  This should be an informative and enlightening evening for all.
