The “Second Annual Resource Fair for Latinos of Dutchess County” Event

Community partners are excited to announce The 2nd Annual Resource Fair for Latinos of Dutchess County event, held at the Family Partnership Center, 29 North Hamilton St. Poughkeepsie, on Friday October 18th, from 5pm to 8 pm. The event, during which Latinos from the entire county will gather, promises to be, once again, an extraordinary way to provide to the Latino Community with the resources that are available to them throughout the county.

Erika Kastel, Training & Employment Manager of PathStone Corporation, encouraging participation in the event, noted: “As human services providers and as community leaders our primarily goal is to support and enhance our community. Providing with resources to the Latino Community, which represent 25% and growing of the total population in Dutchess County, will prepare the next generation to satisfactorily enter the workforce and be able to provide better for their families. The focus of the event this year will be on “Education”, local Colleges and Schools will be present to create awareness of the importance of learning English as second language, to obtain a High School Diploma or GED and to pursuit undergraduate education. This is yet, another opportunity to give to our community the tools we need to empower minority groups to succeed.
We are delighted to have several presenters that night: Solange Muller, MPH – Hudson River Healthcare will focus on “How to access health care services and how to help your family prevent chronic illnesses”, Susie Balutis, Probation Officer – Dutchess County Office of Probation and Community Corrections will create awareness of DUI, Gloria Roman, Migration Counselor – Catholic Charities Community Services, will bring Immigration Law updates & Maritza Garcia – Family Services, will present Domestic Violence Awareness. All informational sessions will be presented in Spanish.
More than 20 organizations including local non-profits, businesses, and individuals serving the Latino Community will be present that night providing updated information in Spanish regarding the services available to the community.
This event is possible thanks to the collaboration of Family Services, Dutchess Community College, Catholic Charities of Dutchess County, Fidelis Care, Poughkeepsie Public Library District, Grupo Latino Cultural y de Teatro Independiente, Family Partnership Center, PathStone Corporation and Community Leader Ms. Gabriela Owen.
