Legislative Report

In the last week I have responded to various phone calls and emails from constituents regarding the energy tax, smart meters, affordable housing and homelessness. I also spoke with a small business owner and various county agencies regarding a potential business opportunity in the Town of Wappinger and the City of Poughkeepsie. I also attended the Southern Dutchess Coalition, Inc. 36th Birthday Celebration – “What Would Martin Do?” Annual Celebration.

This month I co-sponsored a resolution urging passage of state legislation to allow residents to opt-out of using smart meters and for the commission to not charge a fee for opting out. I also signed onto a letter with other county legislators asking Congress to extend unemployment benefits and signed onto a letter against the Trans Pacific Partnership.
