Activities: Attended the legislative committee and board meetings. Responded to multiple calls and emails regarding the Dutchess County Comptroller’s inappropriate tweets and offensive language; the new capacity zone; the Human Rights Commission; jail expansion; domestic violence concerns; voting rights information and registration; the energy tax and who voted in favor of it; the Mid-Hudson Valley Community forum with N.Y.S. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman; DC Eastern Gov’t Center; real property classifications and the use of brine on county roads. Conducted research on pod resolutions and handled various tasks regarding the organization of the 3rd Annual Health and Wellness Fair.

Events: Organizing the 3rd Annual Southern Dutchess Health and Wellness Fair and sponsoring a blood drive at Mesier Park in the Village of Wappingers Falls on Saturday, June 7th from 11am-3pm.

Bills: Voted against the pods because I don’t agree with the location of the pods. In my opinion, the administration has done nothing to demonstrate that they will provide the programs necessary or the efficiencies required to reduce the length of stay. The County has implemented very few recommendations in the RicciGreene Report and the steps taken by the County thus far show that we are moving in the direction of a new expensive jail, which I strongly oppose. We need to see substantive proposals on addressing the mental health, recidivism, and substance abuse issues and the different construction and cost options before voting on pods.  We are putting the cart before the horse.
