About Francena Amparo

Francena Amparo was born on August 12, 1977.  She is a graduate of SUNY Purchase College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Legal Studies.  She is also a graduate of SUNY Westchester Community College with an Associates of Arts degree and Certificate in Paralegal Studies.

After losing her younger brother to suicide in 2008, Francena decided to get involved in local politics.  In 2009, she ran for the Town of Wappinger Town Board because of the Board’s lack of communication and transparency with their constituents and to give residents a choice.  Although her bid for election resulted in a loss, it set the stage what was to come next.

In November 2011, Francena Amparo was elected to the Dutchess County Legislature to represent Town of Wappinger and the Village of Wappingers Falls.  In November of 2015, after being re-elected to serve a third term in office, she was elected by her Democratic Caucus to become the Deputy Minority Leader in the County Legislature.

In addition to her legislative position, Francena works at Kaplan Fox & Kilsheimer LLP and has 15 years of experience working in the legal field in the areas of real estate, securities and consumer protection litigation.  In 2010, she was the Project Manager for Kaplan Fox’s International Summit on Financial Reform.
