Activities:  Attended the Myers Corners Road Improvements Public Informational Meeting, the FEMA Public Forum and an MLK event at Springfield Baptist Church. Also attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Grinnell Library Board of Trustees and sat in their board meeting.  Fielded calls and emails regarding various state, county and school issues as well as upcoming community events.  Prepared for upcoming legislative committee meetings.

Local Happenings: Grinnell Library Summer Reading Programs 2013

All year long children look forward to the summer break. While we all enjoy fun in the sun; it’s important to continue the progression of your child’s education during the summer months.

The Grinnell Library has scheduled a series of events for children, teens, and adults.  With online and in-library options, participating in their Summer Reading Program is easy!

Event Recap: The 2nd Annual Health and Wellness Fair 2013

This past Saturday, June 8th members of the community gathered at Mesier Park in Wappingers Falls, NY, for the 2nd Annual Health and Wellness Fair.
In honor of this year’s theme, healing, there were many free activities; a natural digestive health class was presented, along with gardening therapy, pet therapy, blood pressure checks, and live music from our local pharmacist at Walgreens.  Chiropractors were on site to conducting health screenings and stress tests.  Visitors also enjoyed a Yoga and Zumba session!

The Village of Wappingers Falls Police Department conducted fingerprinting for child safety and provided tables with information on local services.

The Poughkeepsie Journal came out to show support and interviewed Dutchess County Legislator Francena Amparo.

The annual blood drive was a success, 24 units of blood were collected!  This enables the American Red Cross to save the lives of 72 people.  A special thanks to all our blood donors!

Legislator Amparo would like to thank everyone who made this year’s Health and Wellness Fair a success and we look forward to seeing you next year.
