WEDC Workshop – Communicating Assertively, Not Aggressively for Success

Activities: Met a representative from Safe Haven Thrift Shop and Pet Food Pantry to discuss services and initiatives. Attended a lecture on Race, Racism and Race Relations in America at Marist College and also attend a Latino Democratic Committee meeting. Spoke with various Marist students regarding racial profiling at Marist College; responded to multiple calls and emails regarding the county airport, home foreclosures, the upcoming Village elections; LGBT issues or lack thereof, the energy tax, the Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County transportation system, Common Core and vacancies on the WCSD School Board. Referred businesses to the Women’s Enterprise Development Center Inc. at Marist. Conference call with Metro North Railroad Commuter Council.

Bills: Co-sponsoring a bill banning the use of brine on Dutchess County roads.

Letters: Signed a letter supporting Local Elected Women for Fair Elections. Also signed a letter for Labor requesting Albany to reject the “Tax Freeze” proposal.
