2015 Dutchess County TENTATIVE BUDGET – Budget is not balanced

Budget 2

2015 Budget proposal is not balanced. The proposed plan spends more than it collects in revenue, creating a structural $4.875 million dollar deficit.  See cover of Budget in Brief.

Reducing the entire county’s property tax by a mere $300,000 is not something the taxpayer should get too excited about.  If your assessment on your home was not reduced in 2014, then you are potentially facing an increase in your individual tax bill because the rate is going from $3.65/$1000 to $3.68/$1000.

Touch a Truck Event

The Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls is sponsoring “Touch A Truck” at the Dutchess County Airport on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from Noon to 4:00 pm. The event is in memory of long time Rotarian Butch Paino. Butch was a member of the Wappingers

Rotary Club for many years before his death in 2013. He was a past Club President and Board member. His favorite role, however, was as a liason to our Interact Club at RCK High School.

Touch A Truck will feature vehicles from local area businesses, community groups and government agencies. Put your imagination in gear and go! Kids will have the opportunity to climb aboard and get behind the wheel of their favorite vehicles, learn from their operators and meet some of their hometown heroes. Participants include vehicles from Dutchess County Airport and Sheriff’s Department, Wappingers Central School District, Neave Landscaping, New Hackensack Fire Company, B. & B. Auto Specialists, Central Hudson, The Village of Wappingers Falls, Bottini Fuel and many more.

Inconsideration of our special needs community the event will be a “No Honk” zone from Noon to 3:00 PM. Along with vehicles, the event will feature food trucks and vendors, children’s activities, train rides and bouncy houses. All proceeds benefit the Wappingers Rotary Club’s charitable activities, which include Student of the Month, scholarships, Operation Warm Coat, Meals on Wheels and support of our local food pantries.

Admission to Touch A Truck is $5.00 for Individuals or $15.00 per Family (Max: 6). Children under 2 are free

The Rotary Club is grateful to its major sponsor Bottini Fuel for their support. Their generosity has insured that our Club hosts a successful event.
